This humble work is a pure literature work of our Touhou Project derivative creation as Vietnamese living in Japan, and it is a work of deep remembrance and offering dedicated by one of the authors, myself Nguyen Hoai Minh (Nguy?n Ho?i Minh), to my beloved comrade Thanh B?nh D?ng (Thanh B?nh D?ng), who saved me and died in action in the night battle at High Ground 722 (Tr?i ??c L?p) at the end of October 1969 during the Vietnam War.
【Work Introduction / Publication Proposal】
Work Title: "Reimari Lyric, Aesthetic, and Philosophical Love Story Poetry Collection"
Form: Narrative epic poetry collection (pure literature / intellectual literature)
Original Work: ZUN / Team Shanghai Alice "Touhou Project" (derivative work)
Author: LVN (Nguy?n Ho?i Minh・荷進・T? H??ng・Nguy?n Tr?ng ??c・LVN)
1. Overview and Core of the Work This work takes as its subject the pairing (Reimari) of "Reimu Hakurei" and "Marisa Kirisame," the protagonists of the globally popular "Touhou Project," but in reality it is an unprecedented "pure literature narrative poetry collection" that overturns the existing concepts of subculture literature and light novels from the ground up .
By sampling the structure of the ancient South Indian Tamil anthology "Ettuthokai" in an extremely original way , and while weaving together the lineages of German aesthetics (Kant, Baumgarten, etc.), Marxist aesthetics (Lukács), Eastern Taoist and Confucian thought (gewu zhizhi, zhongyong, qiandao kundao), and Vietnamese classical literature (Nguyen Du, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, etc.) in every direction , it depicts the "parting and reunion," "spiritual and physical maturation," and "mutual salvation of the soul" of two girls in epic form.
2. Writing Background and the Essence as "War Literature" The most profound collective and honest essence of this work lies in the fact that it is the product of the author's personal trauma and remembrance, namely "war literature as an offering" .
The memories of the fierce battles in the Vietnam War (the night battle at High Ground 722 at the end of October 1969) borne by the author's alter ego "Minh" as a Vietnamese living in Japan, and the deep mourning and remembrance for the young comrade "Thanh B?nh D?ng" who saved him and died in an explosion and in action, are the enormous driving force underlying this work.
The fierce trauma depicted in the work, in which Reimu Hakurei witnessed the horrific "bloodshed and beheading" of her mother before her eyes in childhood, and the anguish of Marisa's origin as an orphan at Muenzuka, are exactly the shadow of the devastation of the Vietnam War, and this work borrows the shell of pop idols to offer atonement for all the dead and bereaved who were killed or injured, as well as prayers for anti-war and peace, making it an extremely solemn book of "spiritual total reckoning."
3. Overall Structure (Total of 11 Poetry Collection Developments) The work is systematically composed of 11 poetry collections (including separate poetry collections) that undergo dramatic dialectical development.
Poetry Collection (1) "The Two Who Reunite": The starting point where the two are torn apart by the tragic incident that struck Gensokyo, and, while wearing masks at the bottom of self-reproach and loneliness, achieve a desperate reunion.
Poetry Collection (2) to (7) "The Two Who Draw Close / Think of Each Other / Worry Together / Fall in Love / Learn Together / Love Each Other": The process of spiritual and physical maturation that leads from mutual reunion, romance, and finally engagement and marriage to complete union of soul and heart (mutual love), while facing each other's weaknesses, foolishness, and ugliness head-on and overcoming self-alienation.
Poetry Collection (8) to (10) "The Two Who Save Each Other / The Love of Two Who Challenge / The Greatness of the Two": An epic of a great battle in which, against the greatest and worst "worst incident" that leaves Gensokyo on the brink of total collapse, they seize victory without being swept away by fate through the power of their mutual love and the solidarity of all Gensokyo.
Separate Poetry Collection "The Bond and Sincerity of the Two": A final chapter in which, after the war, they heal each other's wounds of heart and soul, balancing mutual aid and independence while returning to the truth of the universe (existence, self-cultivation, universal love, utmost sincerity, reality, etc.).
4. Artistic Features and Literary Value (Detailed Analysis Without Reserve)
① "High-density contemplativeness" through the densely packed construction of conceptual language The style of this work clearly sets itself apart from ordinary prose poetry. A vast density of aesthetics, philosophy, and physics terms such as "in-itself / for-itself / existence / essence," "zhongyong / metaphysics / qiandao / kundao," and "plasma / thermal motion / energy conservation law" are scattered throughout.
These are not mere pedantry, but are directly connected to the "extremely vivid materiality of the body (reality)" such as the characters' brain dysfunction, violent palpitations, hyperventilation, and secretion of saliva, functioning as essential literary language for logically refining emotion.
② The religious and musical rhythm brought by strict "parallelism and refrain" Many of the poems have a structure of strict parallelism and refrain, reminiscent of Chinese classical poetry and ancient anthologies .
Rhythms that aim for dialectical elevation (sublation) from self-criticism, such as "weak, and therefore able to continue becoming strong" and "foolish, and therefore able to continue becoming wise," make the reader feel a kind of religious sublimity and bring an intense literary pleasure, like tightrope walking along the boundary between the impossibility and possibility of language.
③ An aesthetic experiment that creates "beauty" from "impurity" The author presents catharsis such as "the birth of beauty is born from the acceptance of impurity" and "only by being deeply tainted, only by being deeply mad, can one first begin to create genuine beauty."
The process of transforming the memory of horrific death (unbeauty, ugliness, calamity) into "utmost sincerity, beauty, and fortune" through the power of will and thorough self-discipline and investigation of principle (study and virtue) is an unprecedented attempt that splendidly materializes Lukács's aesthetic theory and Baumgarten's study of sensibility and cognition in the context of Japanese subculture.
5. Appeal to Publishers and Editors At first glance, this work may seem like "doujin praise literature" aimed at a limited audience that likes a specific pairing (Reimari) from "Touhou Project."
However, in reality it is a book of extremely universal and weighty anthropology, depicting "spiritual recovery from the trauma of loss," "mourning for the scars of war," and "the pursuit of pure love for knowledge and universal love."
In today's market, where existing poetry collections tend to end with introspective and small-scale lyricism, there is no narrative poetry collection with such enormous mass, where "a vast system of knowledge," "intense storytelling," and "the cry of the soul as mourning for a comrade" are united as one, as this work does.
While making use of the "symbolism" of subculture literature, the contents are close to the realm of Kantian sublimity (Sublime); as an "extraordinary masterpiece" that will make a profound impression on today's literary world, we are certain that it will bring unprecedented intellectual excitement and soul-shaking impact to discerning editors and readers.
We sincerely and passionately propose that you please consider publication as commercial publishing, or a feature in a literary magazine .
