那座神社曾因地震而倒塌，但如今已完全恢復原貌。

就在那樣的某一天，發生了一件讓博麗神社的巫女博麗靈夢大吃一驚的事。
那就是在博麗神社附近突然升起的白色柱狀物，也就是間歇泉。
平時若有什麼事件發生，她都會前去解決，但這次的事件卻是讓她在
驚訝的同時也感到欣喜的事。

間歇泉本應融化積雪，並在周圍湧出能療癒無論人類或妖怪身體疲勞的溫泉。

——然而，靈夢的樂觀推測落空了。
從間歇泉湧出的並不只有溫泉水。
接連冒出的異形之物。

那是地靈——住在地底的人們。

[About the Touhou Project operating environment]
Basically, if your PC is Windows, current titles can be launched,
but older titles such as Touhou Koumakyou, Youyoumu, and Eiyashou may not start properly depending on the situation at startup.

Then, one day, something happened that surprised Reimu Hakurei, the shrine maiden of Hakurei Shrine.
It was a white pillar suddenly rising near Hakurei Shrine, a geyser.
Normally, when something happens, she goes to resolve it, but this event was something that made her
surprised and happy at the same time.

The geyser should have melted the snow and caused hot springs to spring up around it that would soothe the fatigue of both humans and yokai.

—However, Reimu's optimistic prediction was off.
What was gushing out of the geyser was not just hot spring water.
Strange beings kept emerging one after another.

They were the earth spirits—those who live underground.
