[New] Kaguya Ukiyo-e Style Waka Folding Fan "Eientei" / Suwa Gensou Kikou Release Date: 2026年10月04日

This folding fan depicts Kaguya confronting lunar emissaries on Earth. Beneath the full moon, Mount Fuji towers in the distance beyond an endlessly stretching corridor. Kaguya sits quietly in seiza, waiting for the emissaries from the moon. In the darkness indoors are an unsheathed wakizashi, an overturned sake cup, and a hanging scroll depicting a baku. The uneasy atmosphere foreshadows the battle that is about to begin. The starry sky was recreated with reference to the view from “August 15, 700 CE, lunar calendar - western foothills of Mount Fuji.” Pisces and Cetus can be seen. The lunar emissaries are based on figures from old paintings depicted in illustrated handscrolls of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and other works, with an arrangement of rabbit ears added. The front of the fan features a waka poem by Princess Kaguya included in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------illustration: MACHITO (Pixiv) Size: Radius approx. 21cm *The fan surface is made of fabric and has a moderate degree of translucency.
